Human Rights and Democracy Activists in Iran reports that the physical condition of political prisoner Arzhang Davoodi has reached a critical point as he nears one month of his hunger strike. Davoodi is currently on his 28th day of hunger strike while he remains detained in ward 3 of Rajai Shahr prison (I.e. Gohardasht prison) in Karaj. He has lost more than ten kilograms of weight and is barely able to move. He suffers from low blood pressure, dizziness, headaches, and deteriorating eye sight. His life is in serious danger.

Davoodi began his hunger strike on July 15, 2010 to protest against inhumane prison conditions. He has demanded for his basic rights to be restored. His demands are: the cancellation of a visitation imposed on him, the right to receive appropriate medical care, an end to the seizure of his home, and the launch of an investigation into his complaints against Ali Haj Kazem, the head of Rajai Shahr prison.

Interrogators of the Ministry of Intelligence are imposing inhumane conditions on Iranian political prisoners, which has pushed the prisoners to launch hunger strikes that has led to the physical deterioration of their health.

Human Rights and Democracy Activists in Iran warns that the the lives of political prisoners in Iran are in danger and calls on the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and other international bodies to take action to prevent a humanitarian disaster in the prisons controlled by the Iranian Supreme Leader.
