The Kaleme news site reports that the political prisoners who were recently on a hunger strike that lasted two weeks have repeatedly asked 62 year old imprisoned journalist Keyvan Samimi to end his hunger strike, however, he insists that it will continue until he and his ‘imprisoned children’ are transferred from solitary confinement to the general ward of Evin prison.

Samimi and 16 other political prisoners at Evin were transferred to solitary confinement three weeks ago for protesting against unacceptable prison conditions, inappropriate behaviour by prison guards, and false promises by prison head Sedaghat. Following the transfer to solitary confinement, the prisoners launched a group hunger strike.

Family members of Keyvan Samimi are extremely concerned about his well being. They have demanded from all judicial authorities, particularly Tehran Prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi to address the situation immediately. Keyvan Samimi is sentenced to six years in prison.
